Friday!!!

Hello!!! I pray you are all doing well. I've had several facebook friends who have been in and out of the hospital, so I am praying for them. I have a special FB and personal friend who has surgery this morning. I am praying all goes well with her. Please keep her in your prayers. She has been very sick for several week, so we expect this surgery to take care of the problem.

I saw this morning that I had a comment from someone in Bucharest!!! I am excited!!! I know I haven't been blogging much lately, and I apologize for that. I had family here last week and before that cleaning house and preparing for their arrival. Then, I had to rest up after hosting Thanksgiving here and all the standing I did during that time. It hurts me, as you who have been following my blog, and/or know me, to stand on my feet much. With RA and fibromyalgia, I am hurting somewhere all the time, but if I do much, I pay for it for several days. Anyway, off of that subject, I am considering having a giveaway soon. But, one thing has to happen before I do. I have to reach 50 followers!!! I know there are people out there who read my blog, but are not followers. When I get to fifty, I will gift some lucky person with a couple of fat quarters!!!! Who will the lucky person be?

I have also been busy making a Crazy Shortcut Quilts quilt for a lady in Virginia. I am to the point of quilting each square with decorative stitches. She is loving it from afar, so I pray she loves it when she gets it. :0) She has also commissioned two sofa pillows that are really embellished for her sofa. To be honest, I have NEVER made these before. I have started collecting lace, and other trinkets to put on them, but I am trying to learn how to do these. I want to do a really great job on them, so keep your fingers crossed. I even have a couple of people sending me things that they have leftover from their projects. I am so excited!!!! I don't know how to embroidery by hand, but I'm reading and watching videos on the Internet trying to learn as much as I can. My sewing machine has embroidery type stitches on it, too, so I will be using it to help. Any suggestions are appreciated.

I have a few more pictures that I can show you of the progress on the crazy quilt.

Items collecting for pillows. Yellow fabric is binding for quilt.

I wish you all a great day. Be creative! Make someone happy. Share a smile!

Thursday's Work in Progress (for me)

I know that Wednesday's are normally works in progress days, but I couldn't get this posted, so I am trying to show you a few pics of the crazy quilt I am working on. I am now to the part where I can start putting the blocks together to quilt using decorative stitching. This quilt out of Marguerita McManus's Crazy Shortcut Quilts book. I am enjoying the process, but I think I might have liked it with smaller squares. I don't know, though. It has been fun. I did not realize that I would get this far as fast as I did. I sure hope the quilting part goes this :-) I know the person for whom I'm making this is excited! I may not have done one of these if she had not hired me to do so. I probably would not have the confidence to stretch my skills. Now to show you some pictures:

So, what do you think?

Have a Blessed Day!

Good Thursday morning!

I pray that all is well with you, my friends and family. I am sitting in my recliner at the moment thinking about what has happened this week. We woke up Wednesday morning with the same president we have had for the past four years. I don't like this idea, but as a Christian all I can do is pray and get the Word out to others. I want to make a difference. One woman was the instigator in having prayer taken out of our schools (legally). I believe that one person can still make a difference. But, it is discouraging when one does all he/she can to make sure he/she votes, then it seems to not do any good. Some stood in line for hours to vote. You may not feel like your vote did not make a difference. Let me be the one to tell you that it did. Our president would have won by a bigger margin than he did if you and I had not cast our vote.

I thank God that He is the one who comforts me in times of trouble. He is the one I can turn to when everything seems to go wrong. If anything this election has brought my heart closer to God. I know He is the one I have to lean on. He is the one who makes a difference. As my daughter wrote yesterday, God did NOT fall off the throne on Tuesday. He is still God. He will hold our hands through out the next four years. But, people, I want to say this one thing: I may not agree with your opinions and you  may not agree with mine, but there is only one God who is still on the throne, and He knows what is going on and what the future holds. Hold on to God's unchanging hand. He is in control.

Now to what I am working on. I made the first cut on the crazy quilt squares, yesterday. Today I am going to sew these cuts back together and press the seams open. I am taking pictures as I go, so hopefully you will understand where I'm going with this. Above you can see the picture of the first cut. I now have them pinned together each with a different fabric. I will later upload pics of what some look like after being resewn. Hope Sally likes her quilt when it is finished. T

I really hope you have a wonderful creative day! May God richly bless you and yours.

"All We Can Do Is Pray"

I am so sorry that I have not blogged lately. I just haven't had much to say, but today, I would like to share with you a blog post that my daughter posted on her blog this morning. I could not have said it better. I asked for her permission to copy and paste it to my blog. You may not have the same beliefs I have. You may be excited about the election results for the president. But, I pray that no matter who you voted for, or what your belief's are, to read this with an open mind. I love you all, and pray that we can pray together for our families, our state, and our nation.

"All We Can Do Is Pray"

After last nights results I have seen a lot of this this morning. I was cooking breakfast thinking about the results and praying for guidance, peace, for my country. I kept thinking about the words that lot's of people were speaking... myself included.. "ALL we can do is pray". This sounds like a last resort for most of us. Or like we have given up and that's a lowly thing to do. We have no other options and praying is the last thing we can think of. Oh my...

I fully believe God spoke to my heart on those words this morning. Praying is not a light thing. Mountains are moved with prayer. Chains are broken and lives changed with prayer. Nations fall and battles are won with prayer. Nations rise and are blessed with communing with the Father. That is exactly what prayer is. We are talking to the Almighty God who has us in His hands. He has this under control and we get to call Him Father!

Lives are saved and miracles happen with prayer. Sons and daughters have come to know Him from hours and hours of fervent prayers by their mothers and fathers. Walls have come down due to prayer from believers. Jesus went and prayed while he was here on Earth to commune with His Father. Prayer changes things.

As we take on this next four years let us not forget our call to pray for our leaders and those in authority. No matter if we voted to put them there or not. God did not leave His throne yesterday. Everything happens for a reason, a purpose and a divine plan. Let us not grow weary and look at praying as "all we can do". I am speaking this to myself as well. I have been guilty of saying that. Let's look at praying to our Father as the powerful weapon that it is. We are so blessed that we can come to the throne room and present our petitions to God. Let us be grateful and praise God that we can come to Him and He hears us. Let's not forget these two verses:
2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

And Jeremiah 29:11
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

I'm praying for you my friends and for the wonderful country we are blessed to live in. I ask you do the same for me.
