Monday Musings

Hi! Hope you have had a blessed day today- June 24, 2013. Where is this year going? I can't believe half the year is gone already. Whew! It is true that time flies when you get older and when having fun. I guess that must mean I'm getting old, plus I must be having fun doing something. :D

Well, I don't have a new quilt to show you, nor  a new purse, jewelry, etc. I did want to check in and say how much I appreciate my followers. I appreciate all that I'm learning from those whose blogs I follow and from those friends on Facebook where I interact with other quilters and crafters. I am meeting online crafters who have written books, and designed bags, quilts, etc. I feel so honored to be part of their lives even if it is online. I never dreamed three years ago when I had to leave work that my life would turn into what it is today. Even those of you followers who haven't written books, or designed patterns, but are quilters/crafters, I learn so much from you. You challenge me to become a better quilter/crafter, to do more projects, to step out of my comfort zone and do things I never dreamed I could do. Thank you for the influence you have on me. You make me a better me.

On a different note, I delivered the Auburn purse I showed in Friday's post to its new owner yesterday. She loved it! Now her daughter is wanting one, too. May have some quilt orders in a few months, so I best be getting the Christmas gifts made and out of the way where I can sew some for others. I love this feeling when people think I do a good job. I have been thinking about designing my own handbag, but not exactly sure how to do it. I don't know if I can get anything that someone else hasn't already done. I just do not like taking the chance of messing with the copyright on other's patterns. I need to make some money because I want an embroidery machine. Any suggestions are welcome on how to handle this type of thing.

I was able to get the Carpenter's Star top fabric cut out on Saturday and I did sew some of the squares together to make the half square triangles. I've cut some of them apart to make sure they are the size they need to be. Once that is done, then I can start sewing the background blocks to the half square triangles. Once I get going, I don't think it is going to take very long to make this quilt! I sure hope not. :D

Bama Belles meets tomorrow. That is my quilting group. We aren't a guild, but a group of ladies who love getting together to sew and work on projects. I am not sure I will make it tomorrow. I really need to get some things done around here. I have to go get myself a new CPAP mask, and ship a package to Virginia. Plus sew on my swap project for a Facebook group. Not sure, yet if I will go.

I will go for now and leave you with a picture of the cutest grandson anyone could ask for. He was in a play this weekend called Pinocchio at their local theater classes. He was a toy soldier.

Blessings,
Teresa

Wow! I am Behind!!!

It has been a few days since I've blogged, but you know what? I haven't had a lot to say. LOL I have several projects that I'm working on, so I guess I will tell you about them this morning. I pray you all are well and using your time wising by making something beautiful! I have a doctor's appointment this afternoon at an ear, nose and throat doctor, because I have had a ringing in my left ear for six to seven months. It is constantly there; sometimes louder than others, sometimes the sound is different than it is other times. It is the same ear that two years ago, I had a hearing test done and they found significant hearing loss. :( I don't want to lose my hearing, but something is definitely going on. I need to find out what it is. Keep me in your prayers, please.

Now to the present projects. I am still working/designing the fishing pillow cover, but I think I have it figured out what I will do! Yea!! I have two patchwork pillows I will be working on this week, also. I have started some strip blocks, too that will be a donation quilt when finished. I was going to upload a couple of pictures, but the computer would not cooperate. LOL Maybe Wednesday I can get them up.

Well, I want to congratulate our DIL for her success in obtaining her college degrees. She will graduation from Harrison School of Pharmacy at Auburn University tomorrow morning! Congratulations, April!! We are very proud of her accomplishments. She has a BS, MS, and PhD degrees from Auburn as of tomorrow. We are praying for great success in her career. We love you, April!

Hope you have a blessed day and I will chat with you later.
Hugs,

Monday Musings

Good morning. I borrowed the title from a friend of mine on Stitches From the Heart on Facebook. She uses this title to tell us what she did last week and ask us to share what we did and what we have planned for the present week. I want to try that myself.

Last week I finished and shipped the crazy quilt to its new owner. She is supposed to get it today. I am anxiously awaiting her response to the quilt in person. I also started working on her crazy quilt pillows that will be embellished. This, too, is a new adventure for me. Here is a picture of what I've done so far:

This is the first time I've ever tried to do this, so I am struggling a little. I received some great advice from my Facebook friends, so I will try their suggestions later(Not feeling well this morning, so I will get on it later today). I have two pieces of lace on it already, but not sure how to get it to lay like I want it to, so I haven't added any more. I have beads, lace, doo dads, buttons, etc. to add on them when I finish. I sure hope they turn out looking pretty.

I also ordered and received the fabric for a yo-yo bed runner and two matching pillows I have been commissioned to make. I may get those yoyos cut out soon and get those started. I believe those will turn out beautiful.

I am so excited about my new followers and the amount I now have. I am searching for a sponsor or two to help me with a giveaway, but I may just do it on my own. On the post where I announce the giveaway, if you want to be included, you must comment on that post, tell me how you found my blog, and make sure I can contact you. I will allow a few days, then choose a winner. So, keep on the lookout for the announcement! It will be soon!

Thank you all for following my blog whether it be by RSS feed, email, or on the Google friends site. I really appreciate the confidence in me and I hope you enjoy what you  read and the photos you view. Have a blessed day and keep me in your prayers always.
