October 1st: Where Has the Time Gone?

Happy Fall! I am so behind, but do not have a lot to talk about. I can't believe how fast time is going by, especially when I have so much to get done. Can you believe it is October 1, 2013? I can't. The weather has been really pretty lately. We have opened the windows in the mornings to get some of the cooler fresh air, and that has been so nice. Love the sunshine and the lesser humidity levels this time of the year. Leaves are falling on the lawn, grass is growing slower; change is in the air. Don't you love this time of year? I do. I love spring time to see all the new life sprouting and flowering. But, I love the fall when the leaves change color, and the humidity gets less and the crispness of the air. One of the meteorologists posts on Facebook photos of sunrises and sunsets that people send him. There have been some gorgeous ones. I do not understand how anyone can see a sunrise or sunset and all the colors that are shown and not believe in God. Do you? I am so blessed to be able to see these events and many others throughout my life. I pray my eyesight continues where I can see many more.

MY COMPUTER IS STILL OUT AND I HAVEN'T GOTTEN A NEW ONE. SO MY BLOG IS NOT BEING UPDATED AS OFTEN. I AM TRULY SORRY. :(

Well, we woke up this morning to a government shut-down. Why do they threaten this every year? I get so tired of our elected officials not being able to pass a budget before it gets down to the last second. This year the infamous "Obamacare" stalled progress. Oh well, I am not going to get off on this. Many of you may have voted for the President, but I can assure you, I did not. I have a lot of things I could say about the way our country is being run, but for now, I will pass. I don't want to get my blood pressure rising. LOL

On the new way of eating front, I have lost 15 pounds. I have strayed a little, but am getting refired up about this new way. I still have not eaten bread, cornbread, bagels, etc. I did slip up and eat a cookie given to me yesterday, and regretted it before I finished it. It was wayyyyyyy ttooooo sweeeeet! Not again. This old girl learned her lesson in a hurry. I almost got sick from eating it. Thank you, Jesus!!! I am a new person! There are a few things that I need to tweak with what I'm eating/drinking. I'm still off my sodas. Was going to break down and drink one yesterday, but I was strong and decided not to.

On my quilting journey, I am working on a baby quilt using the disappearing nine patch pattern. Never have I made one of these before, so I'm having to be really careful in placement. Of course, I got real close and personal with my seam ripper yesterday. LOL I had sewn two rows together, then added them to the first two rows I had made. Well, I looked closer as I was pressing it and discovered that I had sewn one square to one of the rows the wrong direction, and the second row was completely wrong for where I had sewn it. So, out came the seam ripper. I fixed the one square and added it back to the first two rows. I will make another row and then add it and the row that was wrong after it. That should fix it. I am excited to see how this is going to turn out. Below is what I have done so far.

Photo: Disappearing nine patch baby quilt I'm working on. How is it looking? First one I've ever done.

I hope the baby likes it. The grandmother ordered it to match the baby's room. Hopefully it does. I started cutting out the triangles for the Day and Night quilt I'm making and cut my left index finger pretty badly, so since that quilt has white in it, I decided to make this one and get it shipped while my finger is healing. I don't want to get blood on a quilt.

I guess I have rambled on enough for today's post. I hope I can keep it updated more often. I usually get on hubby's computer while he is cooking breakfast and not again for the rest of the day, but he had to go to town this morning, so I took this opportunity. I wish you all a blessed day. Pray for our country and for our military. God Bless you.

  1. Loved your post Teresa. Autumn is my favourite season too, love to see the trees change colours and shed their leaves, so many beautiful colours out there. Yes I agree you have to believe in God when you see the beauty of creation. Congratulations on your weight loss, I confess I think I have a bit of a wheat tummy. I went onto a similar diet to yours when I was living in South Africa and I felt so well after a few months, lost all the extra weight and was able to reduce the drugs I was taking and generally felt happier. Good for you, keep it up, it will be worth it. So sorry you cut your finger, those rotary cutters should carry a health warning, did you need a stitch? I'm enjoying your progress on this disappearing nine patch as it's a pattern I'll probably try. It's lovely and you seem to work so fast. God Bless. Kind regards Mandy
